| How important the fire protection education even is with children in
kindergartens and schools, show the occurring accidents and fires each year. But how can a consistent
and reasonable instruction being executed, if bases and legal collecting mains are missing? What can move e.g. a small fire-brigade unit in this direction, how far and with which these women and men can operate clearing-up? 1992 also the Mendener Michael Bals and Hubert Schulte [firefighters] asked themselves this question. They developed and printed the Mendener fire prevention coloring book. They developed a training for fire prevention in kindergardens and primary schools. Since 1995 the firefighters of the fire-brigade Menden-Bösperde go to the kindergardens, showing safe handling fire. The children is shown the correct behavior with a fire and with other emergencies. Also with it are the fire protection case and the telephone system, with whose assistance children can practice an issuing of an emergency call. Subsequently, few days later usually an attendance in the voluntary fire brigade or the fire department follows, where "their" fireman shows them avowedly with which devices and vehicles the fire-brigade brings fast help. Our entire equipment, the fire protection cases and the telephone system were sponsored by local enterprises! |
